Bikini Hair Removal for a Woman or Man - Be Careful!
March 13th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedOne area that has always been a problem for a woman (and sometimes a man) is the groin or bikini area. So, the question of what to use for bikini hair removal has always been a very popular question in most hair removal forums and sites. The answer to this hair removal dilemma is one of personal preference.
Determining the best method for you to use will depend on a number of factors, including budget, skin sensitivity, allergies, etc. We want to provide you with a number of possible solutions for removing the unwanted hair, so read through these options and select the one that appeals to you most.
What is the Best Method for Bikini Hair Removal?
As you know, the bikini area is very sensitive and if you use the wrong approach, you can make it look worse than when the unwanted hair was in place. The key is to be very careful with whatever method you choose.
Shaving
The most popular form of bikini hair removal is shaving. However, many of us don’t realize that the bikini area skin is sensitive enough to get affected by the razor — bumps, cuts, razor burn. This may be the least expensive way to remove the hair, but it is probably the least desirable method due to the irritation factor and re-growth rate.
Bikini Waxing
Waxing is almost as popular as the razor method. Waxing is actually one of the best methods for bikini hair removal. Some individuals can be pretty sensitive to this method, though, and yet again you will get bumps after the procedure.
Waxing is a preferred method to remove hair because it pulls the hair from the roots, thus, thinning it in the process and extending the period for re-treatment. If you use waxing as a hair removal method for long periods of time you will experience less hair growth and sometimes no hair growth at all.
Hair Removal Creams
Hair removing creams are yet another method used for bikini hair removal. It can be effective but it has two disadvantages; the hair grows back very quickly, within days sometimes, and people are known to have an allergic reaction to the creams ingredients, which can cause a rash and irritate the affected skin for days.
Hint: To test whether or not you are allergic to a hair removal cream, try it first on the inside of your arm. If you notice any reaction in this location, you are likely to have the same on the bikini area. Don’t use it! If you want, test another hair removal cream with different ingredients in the same manner.
Laser Hair Removal
The absolute best bikini hair removal method by far is laser. With laser you can remove hair permanently, which means you will never have to worry about the bikini area again. Laser hair removal is virtually painless and can be done in a few sessions. Cost can be a consideration with this method because it will cost approximately $300-$500 depending amount of hair to be removed and regional location.
There you have it, all the popular bikini hair removal methods for a woman or a man. Again, your choice should be driven by your tolerance for the particular method, the frequency of re-treatment, and your budget.

Try Back Laser Hair Removal to Get Rid of Your Unwanted Hair Fast and Permanently
November 20th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedOnly a few years ago, there was really only one permanent hair removal alternative, electrolysis. But in a relatively short time, laser hair removal techniques have become the most popular hair removal solution.
Is Electrolysis Practical for Your Back Hair Removal?
The fact is that electrolysis is still being used today to rid individuals of their unwanted hair. This process involves identifying and killing each individual hair by burning its roots. As you can imagine, the removal of hair from a large body area (such as the back), could be a time consuming and expensive proposition.
Given that the removal of unwanted hair on the back can take large amounts of time, electrolysis can also be pretty painful. Not only that, there will be a good number of treatments involved which can become very expensive.
Because of these disadvantages, individuals shifted from electrolysis to laser hair removal treatment. The laser proved to be faster, almost totally painless, without side effects (in the majority of cases). The costs, due to the lesser number of treatments, is generally cheaper than electrolysis.
Back Laser Hair Removal is the Best Solution
If you are looking for a method to rid yourself of the hair on your back with the least amount of trouble, laser hair removal is the preferred method. This hi-tech treatment process will give you a permanent solution. This method is fast and has the least side effects of the most popular hair removal alternatives.
It is ever encouraging to notice that not only women are visiting the laser hair removal clinics; but men too are seeking this particular service to manage their unwanted hair problems.
Based on a benefits comparison, laser hair removal for the back is a sure winner. Even though electrolysis is still useful for small areas, such as, the upper lip, eyebrow areas, etc. it proves highly inadequate for larger areas of the body.
Conclusion: back laser hair removal treatments are cost effective, almost pain-free, fast and permanent. The right hair removal process for today’s woman (and man).

Want to Try Permanent Hair Removal At Home?
August 30th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedIf you have unwanted hair and want to remove it permanently, there are a host of options to accomplish this task. But if you prefer to try permanent hair removal at home, your options become much more limited. It is understandable that many people might prefer to perform this task in the privacy of their own homes.
But be aware that this is a prime area for scams and fraudulent products. So, the term “Buyer Beware” should be taken very seriously when shopping for home-quality hair removal equipment.
The top home use permanent hair removal options include:
Home Electrolysis Units
This is a hair removal option that is widely advertised for in-home use. Electrolysis involves a super-thin metal probe being placed into the hair follicle, with a small electrical charge being directed at the hair follicle. This damages the hair follicle, resulting in permanent hair removal for that individual hair.
You can find home electrolysis units for about $50. The key is to choose a unit that actually involves inserting a probe into the hair follicle. Electrolysis hair removal products that eliminate this step are probably not worth the effort because results will only be temporary, at best.
Sounds too good to be true? Well, permanent hair removal at home with electrolysis can be a tricky endeavor. It is extremely time-consuming, removes only one hair at a time, and the unit will not be as effective as its commercial counterpart. And beware – a common issue with these units is that, due to your lack of experience in electrolysis, it is easy to inadvertently damage the skin.
Many of the experts on permanent hair removal at home recommend that electrolysis be left in the hands of a professional.
Oral Medications
The fact is that most medications will not produce permanent hair removal at home. The best result you can usually strive for is a permanent hair ‘reduction’ through inhibiting the growth of new hair. The majority of these medications work by reducing the amount of testosterone or androgen (the specific hormones that control hair growth) in the system.
You will need to visit a dermatologist to obtain these medications because they currently all require a prescription. Some of the more common ones include: Propecia, Aldactone, and Daine35.
Topical Ointments and Creams
A prescription medication called Vaniqa is one of the only topical hair removal medications recommended for long-term hair loss. This medication works by retarding new hair growth.
Unfortunately, it is only a hair growth inhibitor and must be combined with another hair control method such as shaving, plucking, etc. And once the product is discontinued, hair will resume growing at its normal rate. This product is only recommended for women for use on facial hair.
Be a Cautious Consumer
Because many people would prefer to find methods of permanent hair removal at home, the market is ripe for all sorts of scam artists. They will try to sell you expensive products that are either unproven or totally ineffective. So, before spending large amounts on a piece of hair removal equipment or ‘special’ lotion, check it out with your dermatologist.

The Reality of Permanent Hair Removal Cream Products
August 30th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedPermanent hair removal cream is an extremely popular product in today’s world of beautification. Some manufacturers make outrageous claims while others are giving you the honest facts. But how do these products actually work?
The bottom line is that they work by dissolving the hair at the skin’s surface. They do not affect the root. And therein lies the problem! Because the creams don’t enter or alter the hair follicle in any way, eventually, the targeted hair will grow back.
The Reality of “Permanent” Hair Removal Creams
Something that should be noted is that few, if any, facial creams promise permanent hair removal. These products are effective only on a shorter term basis and will require re-application as the hair returns. The facial hair removal products that claim a permanent solution should be viewed as highly suspect, and should be discussed with your dermatologist prior to use.
The good news is that there are effective hair removal creams that provide relief on an intermediate-term basis. These usually involve a hair inhibitor that must be applied on a regular basis and actually do retard the re-growth of the hair.
What Are Hair Inhibitors?
A prescription product such as Vaniqa, is a topical anti-androgen ointment. What this means is that it doesn’t actually remove hair, but is a hair growth inhibitor that prevents, or retards, the re-growth of the hair. It must be used in conjunction with a hair removal method, such as shaving. Unfortunately, if the application of Vaniqa is discontinued, facial hair will resume growing at its normal rate.
Some over-the-counter creams claim to offer permanent hair removal. One that comes to mind is a product called Hair No More. This product offers both a hair remover and a hair inhibitor cream. The manufacturer claims that as long as the hair inhibitor is used regularly, the hair will not grow back. Unfortunately, these claims cannot be backed up with scientific studies. Anecdotal evidence suggests that it may work for some people, with some consumers being completely happy with these products and others stating the products are worthless.
Liquid “Electrolysis”?
You may have seen the advertisements for products called “liquid electrolysis.” In a typical electrolysis treatment, a fine metal probe is inserted into a hair follicle and a small electrical charge is administered which damages the hair follicle. This actually prevents that individual hair growing back.
The liquid electrolysis products contain a caustic, and even corrosive, substance that is applied to the targeted area. Due to the active ingredients in these products, they can result in severe skin irritation. With no documented proof that this treatment is permanent, the risks may certainly outweigh the benefits.
Be Careful!
Whether you know it or not, your skin is the largest organ in the makeup of the human body. And as you know, your skin can be extremely sensitive to artificial chemicals. As these products do contain numerous chemicals as their active agents, use of a permanent hair removal cream should be combined with extreme care. If you do elect to try any of these hair removal products, try using them sparingly in an inconspicuous area to determine if your skin will react to the ingredients. Don’t be afraid to be overly cautious – it could save you a lot of pain and irritation!

A Typical Laser Hair Removal Price List
August 30th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedMany people are familiar with, or have heard from their dermatologist, just how effective laser hair removal treatments can be. But the question in many people’s minds is whether or not these treatments are affordable. The reality is that a laser hair removal price list can vary widely from state to state or region to region.
Laser hair removal costs will obviously vary dependent on the thickness of the patient’s hair, the area to be treated, and the equipment being used. It is understandable that because of the uniqueness in each individual’s hair pattern, the actual results and the costs involved with the laser treatments can also be unique.
Fees for treatments, though identical, can differ dramatically just between clinics in the same city. So, it pays to shop around to find the best prices for treatment. Of course, make sure that you get references and be sure that the qualifications of the doctor or technician are acceptable.
You can expect to find a number of different fee structures for the laser hair removal clinics. A typical laser hair removal price list may be based on the following pricing methods:
A Fixed or a Flat Fee Structure
Sometimes a flat fee is charged for laser hair removal treatments, based on the type of treatment and area involved. The flat or fixed fee may be on a per treatment or package basis. A good example is a woman’s legs where a flat fee of $350 per treatment is charged regardless of the amount of hair to be removed.
Fee Per Pulse Method
Every time the laser equipment emits the laser light, it is called a pulse. Some laser clinics charge based on the number of pulses that it takes to complete the procedure. Consider that one pulse will take approximately one second and will remove, more or less, about a hundred hairs. Clinics using this pricing method may also charge a minimum fee for the treated body area. This results in the patient being charged either 1) the number of pulses time the price/pulse, or 2) a minimum fee for the specific body area, whichever is greater.
Amount of Treatment Time Expended
This is a pricing practice that has carried over from the electrolysis age. A significant number of laser hair removal clinics charge based on 15 minute segments. An example is where a woman’s legs take an hour for a laser treatment, with the clinic charging $100 per 15 minute segment. The treatment would cost a total of $400.
Average Prices Per Laser Treatment
As a general gauge of what you should expect to pay for various laser hair removal procedures (costs are for a single treatment and multiple treatments may be required), the following is provided:
Bikini - $250
Back Hair - $650
Legs - $350
Arms - $250
Chest - $300
Under Arms - $150
Facial Hair - $200
Based on information from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost for laser hair removal on a national basis is approximately $430. Of course, this figure will vary depending on the location of the clinic (region, city, etc.)
The good news is that regardless of the cost structure used to develop the laser hair removal price list, the dollar figure for the completed treatment will generally come out about the same. So, when visiting a laser hair removal clinic for your initial consultation, always ask for a price quote for the completed laser hair removal treatments. The key here is to eliminate any surprises after the treatments are done!
